S1 Orientation Day
August 24, 2017
To welcome our new Good Hope students, the Central Board and the Prefect Board have jointly organized the S1 Orientation Day in late August. Our S1 sisters were divided in groups and participated in a lot of ice-breaking activities. We, the executive committee members of the Central Board have also introduced themselves to the little sisters and briefly explained our duties as a Central Board member.
Moving up to secondary school is undoubtedly a turning page for the S1 sisters. We wish them the best of luck in adapting to the new school life and meeting new friends.
Opinion Collection Scheme
July 13, 2017
The Central Board's Opinion Collection Scheme took place from 23rd June to 14th July, 2017. We sent out questionnaires to our schoolmates so that we could know what they liked about our activities and services, as well as how we could improve them.
We respect the way schoolmates feel about what we have done this year, and in order to make the Board's future activities and services better for schoolmates, we will pass on their opinions to the future Central Board executive committee members. We will also encourage them to make reference to our findings while planning activities when they take up our roles.
"Of the Students, By the Students, For the Students."
This is the Central Board's long-time motto. With a couple of months left before our term of service ends, we hope we could uphold it when serving our schoolmates, and that the spirit of ‘changing for the better’ will persist for the years to come.

Mothers' Day Special
May 12, 2017
Motherhood is a tough 24-hour job, with no pay and no day off. The least we children can do, is to make our mothers smile.
With the Mother's’ Day approaching, the Central Board prepared a Rose Sale so that schoolmates could show gratitude towards their beloved mothers. All roses were soon sold out and the profits from the sale went to the Delia’s Hall Revitalization Project.
FIS (Fostering, Inspiring, Strengthening)
April 29, 2017
Jointly organized by King's College, Ying Wa Girls’ School and Cheung Chuk Shan College, the FIS programme aimed to raise participants’ awareness on local and global social issues.
“It was indeed an eye-opening experience for me as I have got some exposure to human rights. I was particularly moved by a group’s presentation on feminism. It has made me realize how fortunate we are to enjoy equal rights, regardless of our genders.”

Friut Fun Share
March 24, 2017
To promote the habit of eating fruit among schoolmates, the Central Board held the activity ‘Fruit Fun Share’ in March. It featured a wide range of activities, including the inter-class cooking competition, blindfolded fruit juices tasting and poster design contest. The School also sponsored free fruit for schoolmates to enjoy during lunchtime. You are what you eat, so choose wisely!
Inter-school Athletics Championship
March 04, 2017
The annual Athletics Championship was successfully held and Good Hope School came second overall. Many current students and alumni cheered for Good Hope athletes at the Wan Chai Sports Ground. The Central Board designed headbands for this meaningful event and the response was overwhelming, showcasing the united spirit of Good Hopers.
Valentine's Day Special
February 13, 2017
Chocolate, teddy bears, hearts... We, the Central Board, decided to jazz up Valentine's Day in Good Hope this year with a few activities to spread the love around the campus!
The best way to feel one's emotions is through music and that's exactly why we had our first ever live music stream in the PA system during lunch. Schoolmates sent in their favourite love songs beforehand and told us the special someone they wanted to dedicate it to and each classroom jammed out to the hits.
But just in case students wanted to 'share' their love even further via social media, a photo booth was set up in Our Lady's Hall with props and balloons. Schoolmates lined up to take an instant photo with their friends and keep the memory of their friendship forever.

Chinese New Year Mass & Celebration
January 22, 2017
Good Hopers were in the festive spirit when welcoming the Year of the Rooster on 23 January. All students and staff members dressed up in traditional Chinese costumes to celebrate the festival together in the Holy Spirit Hall.
Everyone enjoyed the performances prepared by our House Captains and the Lion Dance Club. To end the school day, students cleaned the school campus together, following the Chinese New Year customs to clean the house in order to get rid of all the bad luck gathered in the previous year. We, the Central Board, wish everyone in the Good Hope Family a happy New Year of the Rooster!

CB & PB Leadership Training Camp
January 02, 2017
Members of the Central Board and the Prefect Board attended a leadership training camp in Wu Kai Sha Youth Village on January 3, 2017 to get more equipped with leadership and teamwork skills for the tasks they have to manage in the year.
We started the camp with some ice-breaking games which were then followed by a campsite tracing. Arriving at different checkpoints, participants had to complete tasks which required group discussions and coordination. After lunch, a mass game which aimed to train up the cooperation skills between the 2 Boards was held. There were also debriefing sessions after each task, in which participants could find out their strengths and areas for improvement so as to help them manage their future tasks with ease.
The camp was definitely a great experience for all members of the Student Committees. We, the Central Board 2016-2017 will continue to strive for more collaboration opportunities in the months ahead, in the hope that schoolmates can enjoy a school life full of amazement.

Christmas Celebration
December 22, 2016
Our annual Christmas Celebration performance was held on 23 Dec, 2016. We had our reindeer costumes on and invited Ellen Cheung, a talented past student to perform with us on stage. Apart from swaying to the beat of Jingle Bell Rock, we staged games together with some teachers who dressed up as Mr and Mrs Santas for schoolmates to join. We also held a Christmas-themed photo booth and a Secret Santa Candy Cane scheme for schoolmates to keep their memories as well as to spread their joy and love for those around them by delivering candy canes to them.
"Knowing that the happiness we feel when we bring happiness to others is the greatest happiness to the world." -Mokichi Okada
Seeing that everyone enjoyed our performance and the celebration, we feel nothing but grateful that our efforts have paid off. In the New Year, Aurora will continue to work hard so as to bring more happiness to Good Hope!

Halloween Celebration
October 30, 2016
Halloween is always a festival which we dedicate to remembering the dead. This year, on 31/10, our Central Board Exco members went round the campus and spread joy to our fellow schoolmates. Dressed up as typical monsters, witches and fairies, we gave out candies and snacks with quotes of joy and thanksgiving. The "No Trick, Just Treat" resulted in huge grins and heart-warming greetings of "Happy Halloween" everywhere in the campus. The satisfaction painted on your lovely faces is always our source of motivation and happiness.

Leadership Training Camp
October 21, 2016
The Leadership Training Camp was held on 22 October, 2016. Student leaders of the Central Board, Prefect Board, houses and uniform groups gathered in the morning and went on a City Tracing around the Choi Hung neighborhood. By exploring the nooks and crannies, newly appointed leaders had the opportunity to develop teamwork and understandings within their groups.
In the afternoon, the group arrived at the Pak Tam Chung Holiday Camp in Sai Kung. In the site, they were briefed about how to organize an effective meeting. As future leaders of the society, it is crucial for them to learn about time management, agenda planning and communication strategies. “Challenge ideas, not people”. There is no simple answer to holding a successful meeting, but the key is effective communication.
The camp was certainly a life-enhancing and eye-opening experience for the student leaders. The group will continue to work with one another closely in the school year.

Central Board Platform
September 22, 2016
The annual Central Board Platform is where courageous candidates make their avowed intent, going for extra miles to make marks on their secondary school lives. On the 21st and 22nd of September, 19 of us embarked on the stage and took up challenges we thought we couldn't have handled. We would never forget the immense fear and fright encountered on stage, as well as the wondrous moments of making new friendships and sharing encouragements. I guess we all would comprehend Winston Churchill's wisdom, "Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage that counts," after the priceless experience.
We believe that it was our blood, sweat and tears that bring us to such recognition and approval from our schoolmates. In the coming academic year, the Central Board 2016-2017 will continue to explore all avenues to present to you the best school life you could ever imagine! Stay tuned!
